Itet is ground-breaking & unique. No such program exists that offers ongoing professional mentorship, performance opportunities, collaboration and a professional pathway to these gifted string students. Members of Itet have been enabled and inspired to study music at a tertiary level, and a number are now teaching/performing professionally – passing on their inspirational journey to a new generation of musicians.

We currently have ensembles in Broadmeadows, Bendigo, Traralgon, Shepparton, Horsham, Hamilton, 2 ensembles in Bairnsdale & 3 ensembles in Mildura.  John selects mostly High School students from year 7 - 12, with a minimum Grade 4 AMEB standard. Students are selected from a range of State, Private & Independent schools in each region to form a string Ensemble. John also encourages community members and teachers to join our ensembles particularly where there are only a few students learning string instruments. Because of the generosity of philanthropists, local councils, trusts and foundations, this program is offered to our musicians at no cost. They receive regular ongoing monthly rehearsals delivered by inspiring mentors John Noble, Flinders Quartet and other talented professional musicians from across Australia.

Huge thanks to Artistic Patrons - Flinders Quartet, Hume Central Secondary College, Bendigo Senior Secondary College, Ulumbarra Foundation, Fairley Foundation, Mildura Rural City Council, D’Addario Australia, Fine Music, Arts Mildura, The Hub Bairnsdale, Crashendo - East Gippsland, the City of Greater Bendigo, the Australian Cultural Fund & our incredible family of philanthropists/supporters for their ongoing support.

Our Mission

Our Mission is simple. Deliver an Exciting, Innovative & Inspirational String Quartet Training Program to gifted String Musicians from across Victoria. Employ online technologies to assist in the delivery of, and access to this program. Maintain ongoing contact and Professional mentorship. Enable many inspiring & exciting Performance Opportunities.

“Sharing music in a small ensemble with John Noble has been so encouraging and challenging (in a positive way). Also, meeting new people connected with music through this program has been a wonderful experience; from professional mentors to sponsors to appreciative audience members. It has also personally given me some resilience to keep going with music throughout the CoVid ordeal. Having a reason to practise and connect with mentors has been very therapeutic and given me a sense of normalcy. It has also helped me to encourage others in our group to keep going with music, even with Zoom. Being part of this program is one of the most enriching and exciting things I have ever done. I truly hope it continues and grows”
